My Own Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

“Libby’s 100% Pure Pumpkin.  All Natural.  No Preservatives.  Grown in the USA.”  I’m literally sitting here smiling as I read the label on the can, because it’s contents reminds me of the holiday season.  The nostalgic taste of Pumpkin Pie at my Aunt Joanie and Uncle Joe’s house.  The dessert that graced the table after every Thanksgiving meal for years.

I stopped daydreaming and read on.  “Good for one 9 “ pie.”  

I think to myself, “Also good for about 4 pumpkin pie smoothies when I’m craving the taste of a pumpkin pie for breakfast, or anytime of day.”

When you want to drink your slice instead, here’s my super easy recipe.


Half Banana
⅓ Cup 100% Pumpkin Puree
1 Cup Milk (I use Vanilla Almond Milk, but your favorite kind will do)
Sprinkle of Cinnamon
Pinch of Nutmeg
Blend until smooth (About 20-30 seconds)
Pour into chilled glass, with or without straw

Optional: Garnish w/ a squirt of Whipped Cream, Crumbled Graham Crackers and a shake of Cinnamon

This shake is soooo delicious.  The smell, color, and taste truly reminds me of a slice of pumpkin pie straight off the holiday table, minus the baking of course.  The banana adds an extra creamy texture.  You actually don’t taste the flavor of banana at all in this particular recipe because of the pumpkin puree and the added spices, which enhance it.

Next time you’re craving pumpkin pie at 8 in the morning, give this easy recipe a try in your blender, Magic Bullet, or whatever gadget you prefer when blending shakes and smoothies to creamy perfection.  

If you’re really feeling adventurous, go ahead and squirt a pile of whipped cream right on top, despite the hour of day.

Forks, step aside.  I’m glad to inform you that you can now enjoy pumpkin pie through a straw.
